A Day in Our World


Laura was propped up against her Acanine who was snoozing in the late afternoon sun. She gazed across a lake in the Kanto region. Her Dragonair splashed happily in the lake and Laura had to giggle. She sighed again, her morning hadn't gone as well as she had hoped it would. She lost to the local gym leader and almost lost her Flareon. Laura started to give into the warmth of the early fall sun and dosed off.

"Munchlax!"

Laura woke with a start at the sudden appearance of a Munchlax.

“Munch munch munchlax!" It went again, calling over to a young man further down the lake bed. He looked over and started to walk over.

Laura stood up and stretched, it was twilight now, so she had been asleep for at least three hours.

"Hello," the teenaged guy smiled. "I'm Alex, I'm sorry, did my Munchlax wake you?"

"No, he's fine, I wouldn't want to stay out here for much longer." Laura grinned to herself and finally said "I'm Laura, by the way."

Laura's Arcanine snored while she and Alex were chatting the next morning. "So what are you going to do today?" Alex asked.

"Well," Laura started, "I'll probably check in on my Flareon to see how she's doing and if she is doing well then I might try to beat the gym leader again."

"Big day then, hm?"

"Yeah," Laura sighed. "My mother and father want me to become a famous trainer and gym leader, but I really just want to own a shop and help all the trainers and adventurers out."

"Really?” Alex asked. "I don't know anyone who would rather be a shop owner than a gym leader."

"You do now."

"So what are you going to do?" Alex asked. "I mean, after you travel, will you become a gym leader?"

"My parents won't like it," Laura responded. "But I think I might settle in Hoenn and open a nice little info and trainer shop."

"Well then," Alex looked at Laura. "What are you going to do after that?"

"Live a good life." she smiled.

Three Months Later

“Go Laura!” Alex called from his seat in the arena, “You can to this! I know you can!”

Laura took a breath as she watched her Flareon take down Roark’s last pokemon. She threw her arms up into the air while he was shaking his head and smiling. This was the biggest showdown of the decade and he just lost to a spunky little teenager. “She reminds me of Ash.” He whispered to himself as the crowd cheered for the champion. He looked up and saw Laura prancing over to him.

“Hey!” she smiled breathlessly once she had made it to the gym leader. “You did really good,” she reached into her backpack and pulled out three berries and handed them to the gym leader. Roark only took one and she frowned. “Take them all,” she insisted. “I have too many.”

“Well thanks,” Roark said. “It’s not often I get called here only to loose, but you put up a fight. I like that in a girl.” He smiled down to Laura.

“Sorry,” she said shaking her head. “I already have a boyfriend, and we’re happy.” She smiled pointing to Alex.

Roark shrugged, “worth a try.”

Later that evening Laura and Alex were sitting at a table in a restaurant. Laura has gazing out the window that displayed a busy city street. Her bangs fell into her eyes and Alex pulled them back so that the rested behind her ear, Laura looked at him and smiled. They gazed at each other for a minuet until they got rudely interrupted by Alex’s Munchlax.

“Munchlax!” the pokemon exclaimed, holding up a ruby red apple.

They both smiled when Laura’s Flareon tapped the Munchlax on the head.
